5S –Workplace Organisation

5S offers a step-by-step approach for creating a well-organised workplace. The steps are denoted by the following five Japanese S's:

The essence of the method is twofold: First change the environment in order to change the behaviour of the people, second control the process through standardization.

Going through the 5 S's gives an important stimulus to learning to see losses, and in this way forms a good basis for continuous improvement.
